This is a highly specialised system developed to cover very large areas (up to 50 m2) in a single unit. Multiple systems may be installed in parallel to cover even larger areas.

The system comprises of two motorised rollers and an electronic controller to maintain the system under tension. The cloth is mounted between one roller and a traction (load) bar. Draw straps attached to the traction bar attach to pulleys on the second roller. In operation the fabric is released as its roller rotates and is pulled across to the opposite side by the strap motor. The electronic controller maintains tension between the two rollers by applying power or braking as necessary to each of the rollers. When the fabric is fully extended the two motors briefly turn in opposite directions to provide final tension.

The provision of a 5.4 metres high x 3 metres wide vertical black-out roller blind to Colchester Art Centre. The two motorised rollers being mounted in parallel at the lower end (for ease of servicing) with the fabric drawn vertically upwards via an idle roller situated at the top.

To provide a retractable waterproof “roof” over a hot tub. The two motors situated to a structure at either end with a raised central idle roller to form an apex to allow rain run off, coupled with the use of a waterproof fabric.
